Youth Program Specialist (Short-term)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a short‑term Youth Program Specialist to design and deliver youth‑focused services that help immigrant and refugee families adjust and thrive in their new communities. You will work closely with local schools, parents, and community partners to ensure children achieve educational success.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement after‑school, cultural enrichment, tutoring and mentoring activities for refugee youth.
• Coordinate services with school systems to support regular attendance, classroom participation and parental involvement.
• Orient newly arrived families to the U.S. public‑school system and family‑law considerations.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑tests to assess families’ understanding of school requirements.
• Advocate for children experiencing abuse, neglect or special‑needs, and refer to partner agencies as needed.
• Educate school personnel on cultural and language needs of refugee families.
• Monitor student progress across grade levels and ensure completion of intake documentation.

Required profile

• Strong communication and advocacy skills.
