Tire Fitter

About the role

As a Tire Fitter you will ensure vehicles roll smoothly and safely by selecting, fitting, and maintaining tyres for a range of vehicles, from passenger cars to heavy‑duty trucks. You will work on‑site at our Tsumeb facility, using specialised equipment to mount, balance and service tyres according to manufacturer standards.

Key responsibilities

• Mount new tyres onto vehicle rims using appropriate machinery and tools.
• Clean and paint rims before fitting tyres.
• Fit wheels correctly on motor vehicles and match dual wheels.
• Inflate tyres to manufacturer specifications and perform pressure and torque checks.
• Torque wheel nuts to the required specifications.
• Report any defects such as studs, washers or wheel nuts to the site supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, handle tools and assets responsibly, and adhere to health and safety standards.
• Provide friendly customer service and complete tyre change documentation accurately.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of tyre types, sizes and handling techniques.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy components.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and comply with occupational health and safety regulations.

Required skills

• Tyre mounting using specialised machinery.
• Rim cleaning and painting.
• Wheel fitting and dual‑wheel matching.
• Tyre inflation according to manufacturer specifications.
• Pressure and torque checking, including use of torque wrenches.
• Basic knowledge of tyre types and sizes.
