HSE Manager – Mining Project (Swakopmund, Namibia)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead Health, Safety, Environmental and Radiation Protection activities for a major uranium mining project in Swakopmund, Namibia. Reporting to site management, you will embed a world‑class safety culture across employees and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all HSE, environmental and radiation protection functions across feasibility, pilot, construction, commissioning and operational phases.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve HSE management systems aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Ensure compliance with Namibian legislation and international mining safety standards.
• Establish and maintain radiation protection programmes based on ALARA principles.
• Build and embed a proactive safety culture, defining procedures such as PTW, LOTO and risk assessments.
• Manage incident prevention systems, near‑miss reporting, HIPO management and root‑cause analysis.
• Define HSE requirements for EPC/EPCM contractors and monitor compliance.
• Lead emergency preparedness, site‑wide drills and environmental monitoring programmes.
• Support digital HSE systems, develop dashboards, KPIs and reporting frameworks.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years senior HSE experience in mining, heavy industry or large‑scale construction.
• Proven track record across design, construction, commissioning and operational stages.
• Strong knowledge of Namibian HSE legislation and international mining safety standards.
• Experience establishing radiation protection programmes and applying ALARA principles.
